Description
Ladybug ITH Purse in three sizes.
4×4 option needs a 4 inch zipper, or larger better to ensure the metal is out of the basting box at step 12
5×6 option needs a 6 inch zipper, or larger better to ensure the metal is out of the basting box at step 12
7×6 option needs a 7 inch zipper, or larger better to ensure the metal is out of the basting box at step 12
Step 1: Hoop no show mesh
Step 2: Stitch down the Blue placement lines ( for the zipper)
Step 3: Center zipper on the stabilizer with zipper pull face up. Make sure the zipper pool is all the way to the side out of stitching area.
Step 4: Let the Green (bottom) and Red (upper) fabric placement stitches stitch zipper down
Step 5: (red line stitch down) Place edge of black fabric face down with the length going towards the green line. The edge of the black fabric should be at the zipper edge above blue line.
Step 6: Once stopped fold fabric over so right side facing up for the body area, make sure smoothed out.
Step 7: (green line stitch down) Place edge of red fabric face down with the length going towards the ladybug head. The red fabric edge should be at the zipper edge just below green line.
Step 8: Once stopped fold fabric over so right side facing up for the body area, make sure smoothed out.
Step 9: Red stitch line repeats top stitching down your black fabric.
Step 10: Greeb stitch line repeats top stitching down your Red fabric.
Step 11: Pull zipper pull to middle of the ladybug.
Step 12: (Make sure your zipper pull is out of way.) The Purple box stitches tacks down a box around the ladybug, securing the black and red fabric.
Step 13: Stitch out the ladybug spots on the body
Step 14: Stitch out the ladybug eyes on the head
Step 15: *Optional* Before stitching back onto the ladybug, make a tab from the red fabric or ribbon. Fold the loop over and place the raw edges at the top of the ladybugs head, extending the raw ege over the purple placement line. The loop end will be lain inside the ladybug between the eyes. The blue tack down stitch occurs now.
Step 16: Place 2 pieces of fabric wrong side facing together and lay over the entire ladybug. Stitch the last tack down line.
Step 17: Unhoop and trim excess stabilize. Cut off the excess zipper and clip the curves.
Step 18: *Optional* Top Stitch.
Make sure your fabric goes beyond the purse to be caught in the basting box of step 12. I made this mistake and had puckering. Also make sure your zipper is long enough to not have metal clips caught with needle Needs to be out of baste box area… not sure stitch down your step 12 first.
